Turn Your Gaze (where life begins)

‘Don’t turn your gaze.
Look toward the bandaged place that’s where the light enters.’

turn your gaze
turn it
and turn it again

spin it to threads
in the motion
with which it was woven

back to the light
that grew the thread

back to the dark
that seeded the light

back to the fire
where dark was fashioned

without the eye
there is no sight

without the heart
there is no compassion

still we will tread, dread
still we will hurt and be joyful

when you can look no longer, hold
when your grasp fails, let go
where you fall, grow

and turn again
where Earth spins
where life begins
