A Practice of Kindness

the first practice is breathing…
so far you are doing well!

the second practice is kindness…
(this will probably need some time)
kindness weaves for you a home,
a place of being and connection

whatever strength with which you hold
intention, knowledge, insight, stillness –
even the strength of letting go –
is nothing when you fall into nothing
which you will
whether you are aware of it
or not
and you will need to begin again
every time

with kindness, when you fall,
you fall into
every time
and you are already here

strive to let go of the striving to let go…
wait a moment –
is that a heart beating?
a cricket singing?

every time

I wrote this for fellow mindfulness explorer and blogger myntechokolade who is also weaving practice into her everyday wellbeing (and, of course, acknowledging that kindness is my own most important lesson!)
